In the framework of implementation of the project “EU Support for Eastern Ukraine - Restoration, Peacebuilding and Governance” of the United Nations Program for Peacebuilding and Reconstruction, the Main Department has got a quadcopter DJI Matrice 300 RTK.
The quadcopter has been designed specifically for emergency rescue services, it is able to operate at temperatures from -20°C to +50°C, during strong wind gusts, has a protection level IP45 and resistance to rain, snow and fog that allow to work in any season. Due to combined Zenmuse H20T camera (with four sensors: a camera with a zoom of 20 MP, a camera with a wide-angle lens of 12 MP, a laser rangefinder up to 1200 m and a radiometric thermal camera with a resolution of 640×512 pixels) it can be used even at night and in strong smoke conditions. Flight time is 55 minutes with a maximum flight range up to 15 km and a speed of 80 km/h. The drone has advanced capabilities of digital intelligence that recognize the object, find it and track it automatically, and the detection and positioning system in 6 directions ensures the safety of the drone.
So, due to the work with UAV it became much easier to conduct reconnaissance of fires in ecosystems from the air, to provide non-technical surveys of the areas and waters for explosives, to search for people who got lost in the woods or were taken to the high seas.
Moreover, the Air Reconnaissance Unit of the Main Department has been engaged several times to elimination of emergencies in the ecosystems of Kherson and Luhansk oblast, the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, and carried out non-technical surveys for explosive objects in the Sea of Azov and its coast. They performed tasks to search for lost people in forest lands and in the sea.
The use of received quadcopter will allow to carry out rescue operations in extremely difficult conditions, and will help to save many human lives.
