Yesterday in Ukraine there was an increase in wind speed up to 17-22 m /. The highest wind speed was observed in the territory of Zhytomyr and Kyiv oblasts. In particular, in the north of the Kiev oblast - in the Exclusion Zone. The wind direction is northwestern, so the combustion products from the Exclusion Zone could not reach Kyiv, and yesterday's troubles were related to the dust storm and the movement of combustion products (which are also felt this morning) from Zhytomyr oblast.
Regarding the further development of the situation: no precipitation is expected in Ukraine in the next 10 days, except in the extreme west of Ukraine. At the same time, in areas where grass, peat and forest burning, wind speeds are not expected to increase significantly (maximum wind speed expected to be 7-12 m / s).
Radiation monitoring is carried out in a constant mode both in the Exclusion Zone at 15 observation points and the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center - the Central Geophysical Observatory, in addition to measuring gamma background, it is also determined by radio-spectrometry the possibility of radioactive elements entering the atmosphere and falling into the atmosphere . Among these elements, a microscopic increase in the concentration of cesium-137 was observed, and the level of gamma background, both in the Exclusion Zone and beyond, remained virtually unchanged.
Concerning the impact on people's well-being: These processes, which have been observed in recent days, of course, cause some discomfort for people, so it is recommended to limit your stay outside. This is especially true in the morning. In the afternoon, due to the warming of the underlying surface, the air temperature rises and the mixing of air masses begins, which reduces the concentration of harmful substances in the air.
