Delegation of the SES of Ukraine participated in the VII-th Meeting of the Commission on Rescue and Protection of the Population in Emergency Situations

On October 29, the VII-th Meeting of the Commission on Rescue and Protection of the Population in Emergency Situations takes place in Warsaw (Republic of Poland). It operates within the framework of the Ukrainian-Polish Intergovernmental Coordination Council for Interregional Cooperation.
The SES, which takes part in the meeting, was headed by Deputy Head of the Service Ruslan Biloshitsky. He noted, that through friendly relations and mutual understanding, the cooperation between the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the State Fire Service of the Republic of Poland was significantly expanded.
"I am convinced that the Commission on Rescue and Protection of the Population in Emergency Situations is an effective mechanism aimed at developing multilateral cooperation in the areas of competence of our Services," Ruslan Bsloshitsky said.
The Deputy Head of the SES added that the proper level of coordination of the bilateral cooperation by the Ukrainian-Polish Commission made it possible to implement a number of programs and create new projects in the field of protection of the population and territories from emergency situations.
Separately, Ruslan Biloshitsky thanked the Polish side, in particular, the mentor of the Ukrainian search and rescue team, Marcin Kedry, for his assistance and support during the process of recertification of our team in the UN INSARAG system as a heavy class team, that took place in September 2019. "This has enabled our rescuers to increase the effectiveness of their assistance in conducting international search and rescue operations, as well as improved preparedness for response at the national and international levels," he said.
During the meeting, the Commission also summarized the results of cooperation for the current year and the implementation of the Work Plan of the Commission on Rescue and Protection of Population in Emergency Situations for 2019-2020.
In addition, the participants discussed the prospects of cooperation in the use of financial resources in the framework of international technical assistance, cooperation in the framework of the Cross-border Cooperation Program of the European Neighborhood Instrument, intensification of cooperation in the framework of the Polish aid program, etc.
As a result, the parties noted the need to implement common European initiatives in order to expand the capabilities of the State Fire Service of the Republic of Poland and the SES of Ukraine to prevent and jointly respond to natural and man-made emergencies.
