The first Ukrainian exercise “Rescue Days Ukraine 2019” has been held in Rivne oblas

During June 18–22, the first Ukrainian exercise “Rescue Days Ukraine 2019” has been held at the training ground of Emergency Rescue Unit of the special assignment of the Main Department of the SES of Ukraine in Rivne oblast. On this Saturday, a ceremonial closing of the exercises took place with the participation of the Head of the SESU Mykola Chechotkin and the Chief Instructor of the exercise Rüdiger Knoll.

Mykola Chechotkin showed his appreciation to all participants and representatives of the company Weber-Hydraulik GmbH - founders of Rescue Days for their work: from the moment of organization and preparation to the last disassembled vehicle on the training ground.

“The experience gained and the best European practices, that our rescuers have mastered, will help us to implement the crucial task – to reduce the mortality and injury as a result of an accident that have the highest level in Europe in present days”, - said the Head of the SESU.

He added that Rescue Days will be held on a permanent basis in the future.

In general, during these four days of the practice, the rescuers of the SESU improved the level of professional training on response to traffic accidents, mastered the modern methods of rescue with using the appropriate equipment, studied the designs of the newest cars and exchanged experiences with colleagues from Germany, Poland and France.

The equipment used by the participants in the exercise was provided by the manufacturer Weber-Hydraulik GmbH. During the whole exercise period, 102 cars, 12 trucks and 8 buses were disassembled, cut and burned. About 150 rescuers learned to response to various scenarios of the accidents and to provide the first premedical aid to the victims in more than 10 practical and theoretical locations.

There were prepared many interesting demonstrative master classes for the visitors of the event, and the rescuers set up various zones for recreation and rest for adults and children on the territory of the training ground.

This is also a reminder that on the first day of exercises there was the transfer of 12 special rescue cars for the territorial units of the SESU. In particular, the keys to new cars were received by the heads of the departments of the SESU in of Vinnytsia, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Rivne and Cherkasy oblasts.
