At the invitation of the Head of the PPRD East II Expert Group Sergei Anagnosti, during March 26–29, the delegation of the SESU is participating in the fifth meeting of the Management Committee and in the Final Conference of the Program for the Prevention, Preparedness and Response to Natural and Man-made Disasters for Eastern Partnership countries - PPRD East II, that is being held in Brussels, the Kingdom of Belgium. The delegation was headed by Deputy Head of the SESU Ruslan Biloshytskyi.
On March 28, during the Final Conference, each delegation of partner countries of the Program is demonstrating 15 min. presentation on developing of regional cooperation and collaboration with the European Commission as well as with the participating states of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
So, within the framework of the event, the representatives of the SESU briefed the Conference participants on the results and national achievements of the second phase of the PPRD East 2 Program, and also informed them about the work of the informal working groups in the relevant areas, in particular: disaster risk assessment, flood management and approaching to the EU Floods Directive, data collection and processing resulting from disasters, host country support, disaster awareness and volunteering in the field of civil protection.
Therefore, the delegation of the SESU had the opportunity to learn the experience and current challenges and threats in the area of civil protection, modern approaches to disaster risk management, and methods of response by other PPRD East 2 member countries.
During his speech Ruslan Biloshytskyi expressed the readiness of the SESU to purposefully and consistently pursue the successful cooperation within the framework of the Program, as well as on the further participation of the SESU in the implementation of joint activities.
The Ukrainian participants also got an opportunity to get acquainted with the prospects of developing of the European civil protection system in connection with the global trend of climate change in the context of reforms in Ukraine, as well as in the terms of building an effective model of the system of civil protection of population and territories of the European model.
