Canada remains a stable partner of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to develop civil protection agencies. On February 11, informed about it First Deputy Minister of the Interior Serhii Yarovyy during a meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine Roman Waschuk.
The meeting was also attended by Oleg Melchutskyi, First Deputy Head of the SESU.
"We cooperate in the development of the National Police, the National Guard, the State Emergency Service, and I thank the Canadian Government for the principled position and support of Ukraine," Serhiy Yarovyy emphasized.
He noted that one of the joint projects is the Firefighter Aid Ukraine program.
"Within two years of this program, our units have received more than 10 tons of fire fighting equipment, as well as a fire truck. In the future, the planned provision of regional departments and voluntary fire brigades with sets of personal protective clothing and equipment ", said Sergey Yarovyi.
Oleg Melchutsky, the First Deputy Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, assured that SESU is interested in developing cooperation with Canada.
In turn, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Canada Roman Vashchuk noted the achievements of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the way of reforming the civil protection service.
"At the moment, we are trying to get a better understanding of the needs in each area, think through logistics and mission details. We need every region to receive exactly what is needed, " - he said.
